Change to newborn billing process

To better accommodate our BlueFlex members and groups, additional premium for newborns is due effective the first of the month after the date of birth. For example, if a baby is born on Jan. 15, premium must be paid by Feb. 1. We previously required a premium to be paid effective the first of the month of the date of birth.

If you have questions, please reach out to a member of your account management team.

Change to BlueFlex rating factors

Effective immediately, automatic decline medical conditions/diagnoses are no longer outlined in the  BlueFlex Underwriting Guidelines, though medical conditions may still be the reason we are unable to provide a BlueFlex quote. The  2020 BlueFlex Underwriting Guidelines have been updated to reflect this change. Please see the first paragraph of page 5, II. Rating Factors. If you have any questions, please contact a member of your BCBSNE account management team.

Enter final quote data for groups for BlueFlex through the UWDataHub. Employees must enter their personal health information using the link that you will create after saving your group's information. Employee health information will then be used for underwriting.

Effective Jan. 1, 2019, we will no longer accept paper applications (or PDFs of paper applications) for both new sales and renewals of large group and BlueFreedom groups. Applications for these groups must be submitted through the underwriting data hub.

Please note: We are still allowing GRX and that process remains the same.
