Q: What is a Special Enrollment Period?

A: Open Enrollment for health insurance is now over, but some situations (Qualifying Events) would allow a person to qualify for health insurance outside of Open Enrollment. (Open Enrollment begins again November 1, 2015.) One of these Qualifying Events is CoOportunity Health members looking to switch.
Q:I receive a premium tax credit on my insurance policy. If I keep my CoOportunity insurance policy, will I continue to receive the tax credit?

A:No, you will no longer receive your tax credit after February 28, 2015 and may be subject to significantly higher premiums and out of pocket costs. You must enroll in a new plan through the Marketplace to continue receiving your tax credit by calling (800) 318-2596. You can also contact Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska at (888) 926-9771 and we can help you through the process.
Q: Will I be able to keep my insurance through CoOportunity Health through the end of 2015?

A: No, you will not be able to have insurance through CoOportunity Health through 2015. All CoOportunity individual policies will be canceled effective September 1, 2015.
Q: What is the penalty for not having health insurance?

A: There is a federal tax penalty for not having health insurance that increases each year.
