Why BlueVision?
- Comprehensive benefits including eye exams, frames, lenses, contact lenses and fit and follow-up exams. Diabetic benefits are provided at no additional cost.
- Largest provider network in Nebraska, partnering with EyeMed1. Our network includes Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target Optical, LensCrafters, Pearle Vision and multiple online provider options such as Glasses.com and ContactsDirect.com.
- Low monthly premiums with a two-year rate guarantee.
- All plans include the Shades of Blue sunglass benefit, providing members and their covered spouses with a free pair of designer sunglasses every other year, simply by getting a routine eye exam.
Add-on options
Insight Plus network savings
Enhance your members’ vision benefits when they visit EyeMed Plus Providers within the Insight Network:

- $50 additional frame allowance — for example, a $200 allowance becomes $250.
- $50 additional contact lens allowance
- $0 exam copay — replacing the standard $10 copay
This add-on delivers extra value and encourages in-network utilization for greater savings.
Shades of Blue buy-up
All standard plans include the Shades of Blue Base benefit, offering access to over 30 designer sunglass styles like Ray-Ban, Oakley, Coach, and more — at no extra cost after an annual eye exam.
For a small additional premium, the Buy-Up option unlocks 15 luxury eyewear choices, including Versace, Giorgio Armani, Emilio Pucci, and other high-end brands — giving members even more stylish options to choose from.
See better. Smile brighter. Live Blue.
Build a smarter benefits package and save more
You can unlock extra savings by adding dental and/or vision coverage from BCBSNE to your benefits package.
Here’s how it works:
Bundling discount
Fully insured groups save 0.5% off the medical premium for each BCBSNE dental, vision, or ancillary product added — up to 1.5% in total savings. Self-funded groups save $0.25 off administrative fees per product — up to $0.75 total savings.
Bundling discounts are not available for groups on ACA or Association medical plans.
Streamlined administration
One bill and one ID card for medical, dental, and vision coverage — making benefits easier to manage (dependent on group type).
More products, more value
BCBSNE partners with Mutual of Omaha2 to offer additional ancillary coverage options like accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, short-term and long-term disability and Life insurance.
Note: A purchase of a BCBSNE dental and/or vision product is required in order to receive additional discounts off medical premiums when adding Mutual of Omaha benefits.
Already have vision exam coverage through your medical plan? Let’s complete the picture.
If your company’s medical plan already includes vision exams, BCBSNE offers materials-only vision plans — designed to complement your existing coverage without overlap.
Why choose a materials-only plan?
- No redundant coverage – Avoid paying twice for the same benefit.
- Flexible network options – Choose the network that fits your group’s needs.
Plans with the Insight Plus network offer an extra $50 allowance toward frames or contacts when purchased from an EyeMed Plus provider.
- Streamlined coverage – These plans focus on eyewear only, so exam coverage and Shades of Blue are excluded.
Want annual eyewear benefits? Try our 12/12/12 plans.
