Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) is excited to announce our plans to offer commercial vision insurance! Group vision plans are available effective Oct. 1, 2025, and quoting is available now! Individual vision plans will be available for effective dates starting on Jan. 1, 2026.
Why BlueVision?
BlueVision has the largest provider network partnering with EyeMed. Our network includes Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target Optical, LensCrafters, Pearle Vision and online provider options at Glasses.com and ContactsDirect.com.
You can bundle BlueVision with your BCBSNE medical and dental plans and receive 0.5% off the medical premium for each vision or dental plan that is purchased. Bundled BCBSNE plans will receive one bill and one ID card.
BlueVision features low monthly premiums, and all plans include the Shades of Blue sunglass benefit.
Shades of Blue: A new benefit to help you stay COOL all year long!
With the Shades of Blue sunglass benefit, your groups’ employees and their covered spouses can enjoy a FREE pair of designer sunglasses every other year. A routine eye exam is all that is needed to trigger this benefit, and they will have dozens of designer sunglass options to choose from including Oakley, Ray-Ban and more!
This benefit is in addition to the benefits already provided within a select plan, so they can enjoy a new pair of sunglasses along with their new eyeglasses or contact lens benefits.

Information for new groups
For new business effective July 1, 2025, a group can now purchase dental and/or vision products from BCBSNE and get savings off their medical premium. Once a group purchases a dental and/or vision product from BCBSNE, they can receive additional discounts for Mutual of Omaha products, including Accident, Life, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity.
Groups will receive 0.5% in savings off the medical premium for each dental plan and/or vision plan purchased with BCBSNE and can then continue to receive additional credits up to 1.5% in savings for three or more products.
Please note that BCBSNE’s dental and vision products replace the dental and vision products from Mutual of Omaha for new groups. New groups will not have the option to purchase dental and/or vision products from Mutual of Omaha.
Existing groups
Our existing groups who have dental and/or vision products from Mutual of Omaha will keep their current products and will continue to receive their applicable discounts.
If interested, existing groups have the option to purchase BCBSNE's dental and/or vision products at their renewal. Contact your representative for more information.
