Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) is committed to promoting clinical excellence and cost transparency for the services and products our members rely on. This empowers members to make informed decisions about their health care. As part of our transparency efforts, members can use our online tools designed to support and guide members in their care choices. 
 

National Consumer Cost Tool 

The National Consumer Cost Tool is an interactive resource designed for members to evaluate estimated costs of health care services and make informed decisions about their care.

By offering personalized cost estimates based on a member’s health plan the tool helps providers guide patients through coverage details, compare in-network options and align care choices with individual health and budget needs.

The Cost Estimator Tool is intended for member use only and provides estimates, not guaranteed costs. The actual cost may differ from the estimate shown. You may review the Cost Estimator Tool FAQ for more information.

The cost data is updated every six months and is supplied by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association from the National Consumer Cost Transparency (NCCT) data, the largest in the United States. All payments are subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the member's health plan contract, as well as the applicable BCBSNE medical and reimbursement policies.

Total Care

Total Care providers are reimbursed by BCBSNE based on the quality of the care they coordinate, rather than the number of services performed. That means they are motivated to know the member, their complete medical history and preferences, and help make informed health care decisions – to get the right care, from the right specialists, at the right places, at the right times.

Total Care recognizes doctors that focus on health care instead of sick care. These doctors go above and beyond to enhance the overall health of their patients – providing preventive services, better management of chronic conditions and reduced costs of care.
